The medical aesthetician or nurse will first cleanse and numb the treatment site with topical lidocaine for 15 minutes to help minimize discomfort. The larger treatment areas are divided into quadrants using a white pencil to ensure the laser is distributed precisely, effectively and efficiently. During treatment, a slight snapping sound will be heard as the laser passes over the treatment area. Patients may feel some mild discomfort. To calm the skin following the laser procedure and to expedite recovery, we apply a hydrating silk mask for 10-15 minutes, followed by moisturiser and sunscreen application to end the treatment.

Overall, most patients need about 3-6 treatment sessions (which are about 30-45 minutes) at 4-week intervals to achieve the best results for unwanted pigment, acne scars, and other skin concerns. Depending on the severity and forms of hyperpigmentation, more treatments may be required.
